Fourteen years ago while on the way to visit my grandparents in the nursing home, Focus on the Family came on the radio with guest speaker Fern Nichols, founder of Moms in Prayer International. My then preschooler sat quietly in his car seat while I listened to the rest of the program in the parking lot. A stirring began in my heart that continued until I started a group a short time later. I am still a part of that group today. That little boy, Luke, is now a senior in high school and his big sister Cassady is in her second year of college. Moms in Prayer has carried them this far. Hearing other moms call their names out in prayer is one of life’s favorite blessings.

When I have time, I love to write. For my 50th birthday my husband collected a manuscript I wrote, “Before I Run, a Runner’s Devotional.” He had it published and presented it to me at a surprise party.

A scripture I cling to over and over is Psalm 5:12 “For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”
