Choosing to Trust God

By Sharon Gamble

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
Teaching my two daughters to swim, many years ago, taught me a lesson about trust.  One daughter listened to her instructor and boldly pushed off from the side of the pool in a swimming attempt quite confident that if she failed her instructor would catch her and not let her drown.  One clung to the side with terror in her eyes and refused to budge!  Guess which one learned to swim first?!!  Oh how often I have let fear win out over trust in my own life!  When I come to God with a burden and a need, do I trust that He has taken it and is caring for me?  If I do, the very process of laying the burden at His feet gives me new strength.  I know I have brought it to the right place. J  If I don’t trust Him, I simply take it right back up, unable to believe He has heard me, and drag that burden around a bit more, getting more and more weary by the moment.  Our God IS trustworthy.  When we give Him our burdens, we CAN trust that He is at work.  When we wake up in the morning and give Him our day, we can TRUST that He will guide us through each good and bad moment, holding our hands and directing us.  Trusting is so much happier than fearing and doubting!  One of the best ways for me to trust is to join with other women in prayer.  Their faith emboldens me and strengthens my own.  May God give you faith today that can move mountains and give your Moms in Prayer group the same!   Father, help us to trust You today and to find new strength as we remember You are quite able to carry our loads.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
You are loved!
