Giving Thanks In All Things

By Gayle Hadden

In Luke 17:15-16, after Jesus had healed ten hopelessly ill
lepers, only one turned around to give thanks to Him. The others enjoyed the
miracle, but they failed to fall at the feet of the One who healed them,
giving praise to God incarnate. They missed the biggest blessing in their
healing, that one-on-one, face-to-face opportunity to thank the Creator of
the universe.
When we come to our Moms in Prayer hours or enter into our
prayer closets, we too get the opportunity to come into the presence of
Jesus, giving credit where credit is due – at the feet of Jesus.
Oh, I love rejoicing when God answers my prayers in ways that
I had hoped He would. But I also must be faithful to thank Him by faith when
the answers or the timing of those answers are not at all what I was
expecting.
Is your Moms in Prayer thanksgiving time “balanced” in your
group? Does it sound like an awards ceremony for the overachiever children,
or is it balanced with thanksgiving for times when children did NOT receive
the award or the spot on the team or the respectable grade? Women with aches
in their hearts for their children need the thanksgiving time to be balanced.
We all need to purposefully thank the Lord during the tough times for the
character qualities He is developing in our kids. It is part of our sacrifice
of praise to Him. It is part of trusting Him, part of being at the feet of
Jesus.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us
continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that
openly profess his name.
Hebrews 13:15 (NIV)
And we know that in all things God
works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to
His purpose.
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but
in everything, by prayer and petition,
with
thanksgiving
, present your requests to God. And
the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.
 From Philippians 4:6-7
(NIV)
Joining you in thanksgiving – at the feet of Jesus,
