Мая 2019 Колледж Молитвенные Очки
When my youngest son graduates in May, it will be the end of praying through six years of college for my two boys. So next year, as I write these columns, I will be praying for two career sons. This is a good time to remind moms in a career-only group, that all Moms in Prayer groups cover at least one school in prayer, even if they don’t have kids in school. (You choose what school(s) you cover.) Также, запомнить, we take a break from the monthly prayer points during June and July and post them in August on the Колледж Молиться Мамы Facebook страница. Monthly emails resume in September.
В прошлом, I have referred to the story of D. L. Moody and the 300 молясь мамам who turned the tide at Cambridge which eventually led to one of the largest student movements ever and sparked missions and revivals. It has been a touchpoint for me as I walk this prayer journey with you. Moody also interests me because of the influence of his praying mom, and he is my husband’s ancestor.
Moody’s birthplace, в Northfield, Массачусетс, is also where he established a school. I met a man who relocated there to start a ministry of his own due to Moody’s history and legacy in the area. We caught up recently when he was in town, and he gave me a brick.
That’s right–a brick. But not just any old brick, though old it is. The brick is from the late 1800s and was likely from Moody’s property. Stamped on the brick in all capital letters is the word PRAY. According to my brick-bearing friend, there was a brick factory in this area during Moody’s lifetime. It was owned by Robert E. Молиться. Moody supposedly had Bibles placed in the cornerstones of his buildings at Northfield and Mt. Hermon, and then these buildings were constructed out of the bricks stamped “МОЛИТЕСЬ” and other bricks that appear to say “HIS” (they were actually stamped with H&S, but the font made it look like “HIS” as if meaning belonging to God—Moody, his work and his school). According to my friend, “It didn’t take long for those with a bit of a prophetic imagination to see significance in that.”
I’m sure many of you, как я, have laid down “prayer bricks” making a path from elementary to middle school to high school and on to college.
While women in Moms in Prayer groups haven’t been laying down prayer bricks for quite as long as bricks have been around (1984 vs. 7500 BC), isn’t it interesting that bricks are one of the longest-lasting and strongest building materials there is? When it comes to spiritual foundations, prayer is the same way. Mortar made of water, sand, and cement holds bricks together. In Moms in Prayer groups, our mortar–our bonding agent of one accord intercession–is partly mixed with tears of joy and grief as we’ve poured out our hearts over our sons and daughters. Our prayer bricks have been fired in a kiln of compassion for one another’s kids and our campuses.
As we meander over our pathways of prayer, I think of each student, учитель, administrator, and professor’s name being stamped on a brick. I think of the names of the moms who have prayed with me through the years: Нэнси, Lore, Dorothea, Lori, Дженет, Ruth Ann, вереск, Kris, and so many more whose names are engraved on those bricks—and on my heart–также. As I leave those bricks behind, I’ll be laying down new ones as my boys head into their careers paved with God’s past answered prayers and His future promises. Один день, my prayer path may even lead me to pave the way through school for my grandkids.
Thus, says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it and find rest for your souls. Иеремия 6:16 (ESV)
