"И мы знаем, что Бог заставляет все вещи, чтобы работать вместе для хорошего тем, кто любит Бога, для тех, кто призван по Его изволению ". Римляне 8:28 (НАН Беларуси)
This month marks the fifth anniversary of my family’s move from Dallas, TX to the Washington, DC area.
We had already moved four times before with Peter, our son who has disabilities, but both of our children had received the bulk of their schooling during our eleven years in the Dallas Metroplex. When we left Texas, we loved our church’s special needs ministry and great teaching, had numerous friends through the kids’ schools and activities, plus Peter was 1.5 years from becoming eligible for Medicaid-waiver housing.
As we drove to the East Coast, it was comforting to know my Moms in Prayer friends were interceding for what was ahead: moving our daughter Elisabeth to college, seeking social (vs. образования) services for our son, and supporting my in-laws so they could age where they already lived.
After two months in Maryland, it was time to find a more local group of praying moms. I connected with a Moms in Prayer group. Madelyn, the first leader who called me, had a daughter with disabilities the same age as Peter, plus her other daughter was close in age to Elisabeth. Her College/Career group actually had several moms whose children had different learning challenges.
Praying regularly with a Moms in Prayer group during this season of my life has helped me recognize the outworking of God’s plans:
…I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness. Исайя 25:1б (НАН Беларуси)
My cousin’s neighbor advised us about the timeframe to apply for Peter’s services, and God worked out the timing so that his program was approved just before he would have become ineligible for it.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Исайя 55:9 (ESV)
- We initially looked for a sheltered workshop for Peter, but God opened doors for him to be in a supported employment program, with the goal to have paid work in our community.
- We thought our daughter’s artistic outlet would center around her history with dance, but God brought friends who encouraged her to join the campus gospel choir, where she rediscovered her passion for singing and experienced how God can bring unity and lifelong friendships in spite of diverse backgrounds.
…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Эстер 4:14б (ESV)
предварительно, my father-in-law had been very resistant to any mention of the Gospel during our visits every 2-3 лет. Однако, he agreed to let Peter and I share Bible stories with him after a stroke left him bedridden. God worked out the details of our move, so that we could be with my father-in-law while he was more receptive to the Gospel.

В это время, as a new school year begins, I am praying from Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) that the LORD will enable you to trust in Him with all your heart, and not depend on your own understanding. As you seek His will in all you do, may He show you which path to take!
Together in prayer,
