By Mary Martin

How many times have your kids rushed in the door after school saying, “Привет
Мама!” схватил закуску, выбежал из двери, вопящий, “Bye
Мама!”?  Not really meaningful conversation. How many times do
we do this with the LordWhen we allow our time with Him to get way from
нам, мы просыпаемся и сказать “Hi Lord!”, grab breakfast, say a short prayer
for the day and then, “Bye Lord!” as we head out the door. Now
I know there are occasional days like this but has it become the norm rather
than the exception in your walkThe Father wants meaningful time with you
just like you want with your own children. We must be intentional in
examining our schedules and discipline ourselves for more of Him and with
Him. The world, the flesh and the devil will always demand more but we
have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who don’t demand but invite us
into His presence. Which is more appealing to you, demand or invite?

Here are some IDEAS that will help you in accepting the Lord’s invitation each

Я – IndividualizedYour time with the Lord will look different
than mine. Just as we arefearfully and wonderfully made
(Псалом 139:14), we communicate with the Lord in our own unique way. Yes,
there are differentmethodsyou can use but ultimately make it your
ownOne thing I love to do is praise the Lord through the
alphabet. Each day take three or four letters and come up with a Godly
attribute for each such as A – Потрясающие, В – Красивая, С – Утешитель, и т.д.. и
praise Him with these all day long.

D – Daily DisciplineMy college minister told us many times that,
You will always make time for what’s most important to you.”
Our time with the Lord should be the most important part of our day but it can
be hard to find that time. Scripture tells us in Deuteronomy 6:6-8,
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when
you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
This passage speaks of anas you gowalk with the Lord. You
can spend time with Him throughout your day!   I know moms who place
scripture note cards or prayers around their home in prominent places. I
keep a devotional in the bathroom and scripture cards in our van.

И – Example:  Отметка 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it
was still dark, Иисус встал, left the house and went off to a solitary place,
where he prayed.”  Jesus is our ultimate example. It would be
easy to say that Jesus didn’t have his children to interrupt Him but that’s not
entirely true. He had his disciples plus His “духовный
дети” who came to Him with questions and problems all the time. Он
knew He had to have time with the Father every day to refuel and
recharge. Jesus chose the morning but that might not be the best time for
you. Find what works for you and your schedule. My husband is a
night owl so his extended time with the Lord is after everyone goes to
bed. I do better in the mornings and throughout the day.

A – Просить:  Мэтью 7:7-8, “Просите, и дано будет вам;
искать, и вы найдете; knock and the door will be opened to you. For
everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks,
the door will be opened.”  Ask the Lord to open up times with
Him. Be prepared, for I believe this is a prayer He will always answer,
and it may require you to give up something. For me it’s been
disciplining myself to go to bed thirty minutes earlier so I can get up
earlier. Even then I may need to sacrifice sleep in order to get that
time with Him. One mom at our retreat shared that she prays for the Lord
в “carve outtime in her day for Him. The Lord has been known
to wake her up in the middle of the night to pray. When He shows you the
extra time pray for the discipline to fill it with Him and not other things.

S – SeasonWe are all in different seasons as moms and so our
time with the Lord will reflect that season. Before I had children I
spent long morning times with the Lord. My first child was a preemie and
this turned my world upside down. It was difficult for a while to fit my
God time into this new season of life. I feel it took me longer because I
didn’t know how. Take advantage ofseasonedwomen in your
church and Moms in Prayer group. Ask those who are a little further down
the road for ideas on how they fit God into their days when their kids were
дошкольники, elementary-aged, etc. They are a wealth of
information!  Titus 2:3-5 speaks of older women teaching younger
women. At our retreat one of the moms prayed this for our husbands and I
believe it applies to us as moms, too. She prayed for three
друзья:  one friend to be a buddy, an older friend to pour into our
мужья, and a younger friend for our husbands to mentor. I pray this
for myself and for you!

My prayer for you is that you would have such a hunger for the Lord that you
can’t help but want more time with Him. Start wherever you are in your
ходить, whether a new believer, a little further down the road, or a veteran and
ask the Lord to show you where to start, make it your own, and have fun with
