Мамы Рождества: Анна, Женщина с благодарным сердцем

Мамы Рождества: Рут, Вирсавия, Элизабет,
Мэри, and Anna – a little Christmas study

As I started
this little study on moms associated with Christmas…I was struck that each
woman I chose had a hard and challenging life…
and yet each
was used by God in mighty ways and we still know her name centuries
later. Want to ponder these moms with me?
Anna – A Widow with a Thankful Heart

There was also
a prophetess, Anna … She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven
years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. Она
never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming
up to them at that very moment she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child
to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Дорогие сестры,

Life is not
fair. At least, from our perspective, it doesn’t seem fair. One reason I trust
the Bible is that it shares stories that are not all rosy and fairy-tale
идеально. Anna’s story is a great example.

Anna lost her husband after seven
short years of marriage. No children are mentioned, so we don’t know if she was
a mom or not. We do know that her choice, in the midst of grief and probable
poverty, was to spend her days in the Lord’s house. Anna worshiped her God,
fasting and praying all the days of her widowhood. And she was 84 when she saw
Иисус. Her first response was thanksgiving and then, she had to share it with
everyone around her! Oh I just love Anna.

I wonder how many women Anna
“mothered” as she stayed in the women’s court of the temple. I wonder how many
“children” God gave her as she chose to worship Him and turn toward Him, не
away from Him, in her sadness. Вы видите, you don’t have to be a mom to…well…be a
Мама.

I remember a very special single lady in our church when I was just a
ребенок, who took me under her wing and mentored me. Her name was Mary, and she
invested many hours taking me places, fixing me meals in her little apartment,
and sharing Jesus with me. I am so grateful for the single women who choose to
love on other’s children and make them their “own” in their hearts!

 There is
room in Moms in Prayer for them, for sure! They pray for the children they
teach…the children they see in their neighborhoods…their nieces and nephews.
Their mother hearts are tender toward the needs of children in this tough world
– and I am very thankful for them!

Отец,
give me a heart like Anna’s! When life is hard, help me to run to You … not
away from You. You are the only Source of comfort and truth and love. спасибо
Вы, Господин, for the women in Moms in Prayer who invest in children who are not
their own flesh. Thank You for every sacrificial prayer they pray. Bless them,
Господин, with Your love and joy
В поле Имя Иисуса, Аминь.

  1. It's amazing that the Lord used a picture of my sweet Allyson to use on this blog spot. Anna was a grieving wife, yet she worshipped, prayed aND was thankful.
My Ally was called home last March. It's been a long hard work without her, yet I press into His love and His promises. It's like the Lord has said to me twice today….keep pressing on, I'm with you.
what an honor to have my beautiful girl on your blog and thank you for speaking words of encouragement to this hopeful and grieving mama. Looking forward to eternity!
