Debbie moved to San Diego in 1995 and heard about Moms in Prayer through a friend at church. When she went to her first prayer group at the local high school in 1996, she discovered that Moms in Prayer headquarters was looking to hire a bookkeeper. She recalls, “That same day after our prayer time, I came to apply for the position. The staff had just finished praying, asking God to bring the right person for this role. I came for an interview and was hired the following week! It’s been 20 years now and I continue to enjoy working in the finance department at Moms in Prayer headquarters.”
Debbie and her husband Don just celebrated their 40th anniversary and have two grown children. Jeremy, married to Karolyn, and Tiffany, married to Chris. Tiffany also works at Moms in Prayer headquarters and she and Chris have two children. Debbie and her husband Don take care of the grandkids two to three days a week.
Debbie loves to sew, quilt and work on crafts. She also likes to camp, read and watch her grandkids play sports. Her favorite verse in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.”
Debbie notes, “I tend to be a worrier and this verse reminds me that God is faithful to help me through whatever crosses my path, that He will be with me in the midst of it and that He will provide a way to stand up under it.”
