In July of 1988, Georgene and her family moved to North San Diego County. She asked God for a support group after leaving her church and prayer group behind. On the first day of school for her kids, Georgene followed a car with a Moms in Prayer bumper sticker on the back, to the student drop-off area. She talked with this mom and decided to join the Moms in Prayer group for her kids’ elementary school. Twenty eight years later, Georgene and her good friend are still praying in Moms in Prayer groups and also working for the ministry.
Georgene conveys, “How can I sum up 28 years of answered prayer for my kids, their schools—elementary through college and beyond—our grandchildren, my marriage and myself? God is faithful!”
Married for 40 years, Georgene and her husband Jim have three daughters, all married. Their oldest daughter and her husband, their first “son,” gave them two wonderful grandsons. And for the first time in 40 years, Georgene and her husband are official “empty nesters.” Their kids all live three time zones away. Now they are hoping to enjoy some travel time together.
Georgene’s hobbies include gardening and reading. Her favorite verse is from Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” According to Georgene, “Before I was saved, I was most certainly a captive, but since God’s good plans have succeeded, I have become a hopeful prayer warrior with an awesome future.”
