I first heard about Moms in Prayer in the fall of 1999 from a flyer for a citywide prayer event in Orlando. As I listened to the testimonies and prayers of the mothers attending, I was convinced that this was what I needed for my own children. When my oldest son started school, the year passed by and I did not find another mom to pray with. The following year, a friend agreed with me in prayer that God would send me another mom to pray for our school. By the end of that school year, a mom from the elementary school invited me to her group. God heard and answered!
As I look back over the years of praying in our Moms in Prayer group, God in His faithfulness has answered countless times and I have learned to trust in Him. In addition, these moms that I have prayed with weekly have become my dearest lifelong friends, a benefit that I did not expect, but I am eternally grateful for.
My husband Lyle and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. He has not only supported me throughout the years with Moms in Prayer, but has been my closest prayer partner and can still make me laugh on my worst day. We both love the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling, and if we are not answering our phones, it’s usually because we’re camping somewhere under the stars with our four teens.
One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 61:10, “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness.”
