Marlae Gritter was blessed with a Christian heritage and came to know the Lord at an early age while growing up in Washington State. In 1979, she received a B.S. degree in elementary education from Dordt College and married husband Dave. Marlae taught third grade until she and Dave began a family. Today they live in Holland, Michigan, and enjoy their three grown children, Michelle, Lindy and Joshua, and four grandchildren.
Marlae served as director of Coffee Break Evangelistic Bible Studies for three years. During this time, God filled her with zeal and vision to encourage women in their spiritual journeys. Then in 1991, after attending a Moms in Prayer national retreat, God grew her passion for prayer—and a desire to draw other women to experience His power through prayer. Inspired by the mission and message of Moms in Prayer, Marlae began calling women to prayer, first in her three years as area coordinator for her city, and subsequently as Michigan state coordinator (four years) and as National Director of Coordinators (five years). Currently, she is the Executive Vice President of Moms in Prayer International.
Marlae’s service in this international ministry has brought countless opportunities to connect with women around the world through speaking engagements and training sessions. She has been a keynote speaker for Moms in Prayer rallies, women’s banquets and MOPS programs and frequently conducts women’s retreat workshops. In addition, Marlae has acted as facilitator for Speak Up With Confidence seminars, been heard on Focus on the Family, appeared on national TV, and has given numerous radio interviews across the country.
An effective communicator, Marlae inspires and teaches women the value of corporate prayer as well as ways to deepen their personal prayer lives. She firmly believes that God will make an eternal difference as we come to Him in prayer.
