Val Woo,
State Coordinator

I heard Fern speak about Moms in Prayer on Focus on the Family. I learned more about the ministry at a luncheon and joined a Moms in Prayer group in 1994. My daughter was starting middle school and my son was in high school.

I loved the format of a focused hour of prayer for our children. I had never prayed in one accord before or prayed using the scriptures and this is what I found special about Moms in Prayer. Instead of praying by myself, I found such a blessing praying and sharing my thanksgiving with other moms.

As a leader, I have been involved as team support to two state coordinators. In 2009, I was first a contact person and then became an area coordinator for East Honolulu. This ministry has encouraged my walk with the Lord and challenged me to grow. There is no other ministry I would rather serve in.

I just love working with all the Moms in Prayer sisters. It’s special when we are bonded by prayer and purpose. I look forward to encouraging moms and seeing how the Lord expands our groups. I’m excited to step into the future and serve as the Hawaii State Coordinator.

My husband and I have been married since 1972. We have retired from our family accounting business and plan to travel more. Our son lives in Hawaii and our daughter is now married and lives in Santa Barbara, CA.
