Peace means so much more than an absence of conflict and distress. It means wholeness.” In this second week of Advent, we celebrate the gift of peace Moms in Prayer style with USA Country Coordinator, Susan Shepherd.

Isaiah 9:6:  “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Luke 1:79:  “to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

John 14:27:  “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Luke 24:36:  “While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’”

Galatians 5:22-23:  “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Romans 8:6:  “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”

Isaiah 26:3:  “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Isaiah 48:17-18:  “This is what the LORD says- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.’”

Philippians 4:4-7:  “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Susan Shepherd joyfully serves as the USA Country Coordinator for Moms in Prayer International. When she began praying 22 years ago as a group member, she could never have predicted that she would follow the Lord into leadership as a Group Leader, Area Coordinator, Alabama State Coordinator, Division Coordinator of the Mid-Atlantic and New England, and finally into this role as Country Coordinator. Susan is married to Joe and is mom to her two married daughters and grandmother to one adorable grandson and another grandbaby on the way. Susan loves to pray. She she also loves coffee with friends, traveling, a good book, and a nap.
