As a young and newly married woman, being a special needs mom was definitely not on my radar, but in God’s divine wisdom, He gave me a son with Down syndrome. God has used my son to change my life. I learned about complex medical issues, educational acronyms, true friendship, and most importantly, I learned to pray and understand the power of prayer. When my son was five and about to enter the local public school, I heard about Moms in Prayer and knew this was exactly what we both needed. Now, many years later and reflecting back, it’s the one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Praying for my children still grows my faith, my friendships, and my trust and belief in our faithful and sovereign God.

My husband Rick and I are now enjoying an empty nest as we have prayerfully launched our children: Zach, Ben & Caroline, and Kassi & Stephen. Together we enjoy Lake Michigan beaches, boating and traveling to visit our kids.

My favorite verses are Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!” Amen.
