A Mom’s Gratitude Journal

Very often our culture mentions the word gratitude. There is a fashion and a trend to practice gratitude through meditation and breathing techniques. However, the Word of God has thousands of years teaching the true concept of gratitude as a correct response to the grace of God in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Word of God is the only reliable source, the truth that reveals the wonderful plan of redemption through which God rescues the lost by pure grace through faith. It also reveals the wonderful diversity of God’s attributes with unlimited power.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; this is not from yourselves, but is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. This verse communicates a great truth from which gratitude naturally follows. It speaks of the grace that comes only from God. Grace is receiving a totally undeserved gift or favor, in this case, forgiveness. Salvation is by grace because Christ died and paid our debt. He justified us. It does not come from us. Salvation is of the Lord. He works in conjunction with His mercy by which we do not receive what we justly deserve: condemnation.

This is the reason for my joy.

It is from here that I draw my encouragement every day. Oh, Lord, don’t let me lose my wonder, is my request. Surely the joy of the Lord is my strength.

Only in Christ will we patiently persevere in every situation, giving joyful thanks to the Father who saved us.

“He has empowered you to participate in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. He freed us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:12-14

I feel grateful, even though we live in a world that is rife with sin where we can be surprised by painful situations.

We can persevere in giving thanks to God who delivered us from darkness and called us into His wonderful light. Cheer up sisters!

Let us remember that we were blind and now we can see because we were clothed with His righteousness and holiness. We are called daughters of God, adopted in the Beloved. By meditating on this truth, we are helped to run the race with our eyes fixed on Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, and not on the temporal.

“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is Your kingdom. We adore You as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from You alone, for You rule over everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and at Your discretion people are made great and given strength.”

“O our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name!” 1 Chronicles 29:11-13

I conclude then that the gratitude my heart feels increases and remains firm when meditating on the greatness of God, Creator of heaven and earth, of the visible and invisible. It amazes me how God created everything by the power of His Word, his Logos. Christ our Savior is the Logos or Word of God (John 1:1-2). Christ our Savior has all authority and power (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything was created through Him and for Him.

Let’s be grateful for the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

Ana Núñez is a member of Madres Unidas Para Orar (Moms in Prayer) Costa Rica. She is a wife and mother of two children. She attended church since she was little, but did not really know Christ until He, through his grace and mercy, came to save her. Five years ago, she learned about the ministry of Moms in Prayer through Revive Our Hearts and she discovered that she loves to pray the Word of God for her children, knowing that she is asking according to His will. This allows mothers to come together and cry out, recognizing that only God can transform and guide our children.

El diario de agradecimiento de una madre

Con mucha frecuencia nuestra cultura menciona la palabra agradecimiento.  Existe una moda y una tendencia de practicar el agradecimiento por medio de meditación y técnicas de respiración.  Sin embargo, la Palabra de Dios tiene miles de años enseñando el verdadero concepto del agradecimiento como respuesta correcta a la gracia de Dios en el evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

La Palabra de Dios es la única fuente fidedigna, verdad que revela el maravilloso plan de redención a través del cual Dios rescata a los perdidos por pura gracia mediante la fe, revela la maravillosa diversidad de atributos de Dios con poder ilimitado.

“Porque por gracia ustedes han sido salvados mediante la fe; esto no procede de ustedes, sino que es el regalo de Dios, no por obras, para que nadie se jacte.”   (Efesios 2:8-9) Este versículo comunica una gran verdad desde donde se desprende naturalmente el agradecimiento.  Habla de la gracia que proviene sólo de Dios.  Gracia es recibir un regalo o favor totalmente inmerecido, en este caso el perdón.  La salvación es por gracia porque Cristo murió y pagó nuestra deuda. Él nos justificó. No proviene de nosotros.  La salvación es del Señor. Obra en conjunto con su misericordia por la cual no recibimos lo que justamente merecemos, la condenación.

Esta es la razón de mi gozo.  Es de aquí que parte mi ánimo cada día.  Oh, Señor, no permitas que pierda el asombro, es mi petición.  Ciertamente el gozo del Señor es mi fortaleza. Solo en Cristo perseveraremos pacientemente en cada situación, dando gracias con alegría al Padre quien nos salvó.

“Él los ha facultado para participar de la herencia de los santos en el reino de la luz. Él nos libró del dominio de la oscuridad y nos trasladó al reino de su amado Hijo, en quien tenemos redención, el perdón de pecados”  (Colosenses 1:11-14)

Me siento agradecida a pesar de que vivimos en un mundo que abunda de pecado, donde podemos ser sorprendidas por situaciones dolorosas.  Podemos  perseverar dando gracias a Dios quien nos libró de las tinieblas y llamó a su luz admirable.  ¡Ánimo hermanas!  Recordemos que estábamos ciegas y ahora podemos ver porque fuimos revestidas con su justicia y santidad.  Somos llamadas hijas de Dios, adoptadas en el Amado. Al meditar en esta verdad nos vemos ayudadas a correr la carrera con los ojos puestos en Cristo, el Autor y Consumador de nuestra fe y no en lo temporal.

“Tuyos son, Señor, la grandeza y el poder, la gloria, la victoria y la majestad. Tuyo es todo cuanto hay en el cielo y en la tierra. Tuyo también es el reino, y tú estás por encima de todo. De ti proceden la riqueza y el honor; tú lo gobiernas todo. En tus manos están la fuerza y el poder, y eres tú quien engrandece y fortalece a todos. Por eso, Dios nuestro, te damos gracias, y a tu glorioso nombre tributamos alabanzas.”  (1 Crónicas 29:11-13)

Concluyo entonces que el agradecimiento que siente mi corazón incrementa y se mantiene firme al meditar en la grandeza de Dios, Creador de los cielos y la tierra, de lo visible e invisible.  Me impresiona cómo Dios creó todo por el poder de su Palabra, su Logos (Salmo 33). Cristo nuestro Salvador es el Logos o Verbo de Dios (Juan 1:1-2). Cristo, nuestro Salvador, tiene toda autoridad y poder (Mateo 28:18-20). Todo fue creado por medio de Él y para Él .

Madres Unidas Para Orar

Una de las integrantes del Madres Unidas para orar Costa Rica, Ana Núñez: Ella es esposa, madre de dos hijos, viene de una familia cristiana y desde pequeña asiste a la iglesia, pero nos comenta que en realidad no conocía a Cristo hasta que Él por medio de su gracia y misericordia la llegó a salvar. Hace 5 años conoció el Ministerio de Madres Unidas para Orar por medio de Aviva Nuestros Corazones , y descubrió que le encanta orar con la palabra por sus hijos sabiendo que está pidiendo conforme a su voluntad. Permitiendo que madres se unan en un clamor reconociendo que solo Dios puede transformar y guiar a nuestros hijos. Además el venir delante de su presencia y reconocer su soberanía nos permite descansar y reconocer también nuestra necesidad.
