“The meek will inherit the earth and they will be protected, they will be treasured by God. We can put our trust in the name of the Lord.” Today we continue in our series, Beatitudes: Building Godly Character in the Woman of God, by welcoming back our Global Ministry Coordinator, Vicki Petkevich. We dive into the third beatitude, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Vicki reminds us of our humble and meek Savior who doesn’t leave us alone in our journey towards meekness. God gives us the strength we need as we depend on Him and His Word.

Scriptures
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 ESV
Cease from anger and abandon wrath; Do not get upset; it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be eliminated, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land. Yet a little while and the wicked person will be no more; And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there. But the humble will inherit the land And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. Psalm 37:8-11 NASB
“Then I will purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder. From beyond the rivers of Cush my worshipers, my scattered people, will bring me offerings. On that day you, Jerusalem, will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from you your arrogant boasters. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill. But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the LORD. They will do no wrong; they will tell no lies. Zephaniah 3:9-13a NIV
Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3 NIV
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. 2 Corinthians 10:1 NKJV

A mother of four young children at the time, she was hooked after that first meeting because of the focused prayer time and praying scripture over her children.
Currently, Vicki and her husband and three of their adult children reside in California. Their youngest is attending the University of Idaho. Her early career was as an elementary school teacher, then she transitioned to a stay-at-home mom and serving in Children’s Ministry. She loves hosting family get-togethers, trying new recipes, reupholstering furniture, and traveling with her husband. Her faith is the cornerstone of her life and Moms in Prayer has been an anchor for her to be surrounded by sisters of faith who embrace the power of prayer.
