Moms in Prayer ministry friends at Claim Your Campus shared this story with us. In honor of Father’s Day, we celebrate dads and encourage both dads and moms with the reminder that God is working powerfully on our school campuses.
There is a growing spiritual curiosity and an excitement about prayer and growing closer to Jesus among young people today. That is what Claim Your Campus (CYC) is seeing in middle and high school students. There is hope rising on campuses across America because students gather to PRAY. This not only changes schools, but also individuals and families.
The 10,000 Mile Tour launched new prayer groups in 18 states in 21 weeks. Over 6,700 people were trained to pray by the CYC team on the road! The stories continue to roll in and are inspiring for the student-led prayer movement in our nation. At a prayer event in Salt Lake City, Utah, a middle school student responded to the call and he committed to pray weekly for his campus.
Shortly after this event, he and his dad went on a road trip for vacation. They stopped a few hours into their long drive so the dad could nap. He handed his phone to his son to entertain himself for 20 minutes while he slept. But when he woke up, his son was not scrolling or playing games. Much to his surprise, he looked over and saw his son praying. It was a beautiful and shocking sight.
But when he woke up, his son was not scrolling or playing games. Much to his surprise, he looked over and saw his son praying.
When they got back on the road, the two talked about God, how the boy encountered God at the prayer night, and in prayer in the car just moments earlier. The rest of the road trip consisted of these kinds of conversations in a holy space filled with the prayer of a middle school boy.
This father was amazed at the transformation happening in his son so early in his faith. Since that night, the middle schooler’s relationship with God hasn’t been the same. His personal prayer life is thriving and he has been gathering with his friends weekly to pray in their school since January 2026.
This story is a reminder of the important role parents play in the faith of a young Christian. The discipleship between a father and a son creates spaces like this for God conversations and prayer to happen. When our kids start to understand the power of prayer, God not only changes the things around them, but also transforms them from the inside out. When students pray, schools, families, and communities are touched by God’s power!
PRAY WITH ME
Heavenly Father, bless fathers today who are leading their kids. Give them wisdom, strength, and courage to guide their families closer to You. Thank You for the generations being impacted by godly parents. I also pray for moms all over the world who are caring for and interceding for their students and schools. Bless them and encourage them! Would You bring more moms to prayer groups, multiplying efforts so that every school is covered in prayer. From their prayers, would You give students’ boldness to share the gospel, soften the hearts of those who will hear it, and bring more into your Kingdom. We love you. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
